- 5/8" BOLT OPTION AVAILABLE!

Expect your weak factory steering system to fail if you wheel difficult terrain where rocks are common and logs jump up at your underbelly. A bent or broken tie rod, drag link,or rod end will leave you stranded with a rig that is not drivable.

Here's the BOLT IN steering upgrade you need to prevent this situation from ever happening to you. This is a complete system to eliminate the factory set up. Your factory steering is not built for hard core wheeling. Our system is super high clearance, flipping the tie rod to the top of your steering knuckles without having to do any drilling, reaming, or welding in adapters! Our Heavy Duty Over the Knuckle Steering System comes with:
  • Extremely Heavy Duty 1.25" solid cold rolled steel tie rod (wheel to wheel)
  • Extremely Heavy Duty 1.25" solid cold rolled steel drag link
  • Very high quality, HUGE 3/4" threads, precision machined, spherical rod ends featuring a radial static load capacity of 32,457 lbs.!!!! Tie rod and drag link use 3/4"-16 thread.
  • Precision machined adjusting sleeve
  • All Necessary Hardware including jam nuts
  • Detailed Installation Instructions

FITS:
  • 1997-2006 Wrangler TJ
  • 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee ZJ
  • 1984-2001 Cherokee XJ
  • Works with 3-8in of lift

NOTE: This kit comes with 1/2" grade 8 hardware. We have the option to upgrade to 5/8" grade 8 hardware for an even stronger set up for only $20.00! This option does require drilling of your steering knuckles and pitman arm tapers for 5/8" bolts. Detailed Installation instructions

This system does not work with OEM wheels. Wheel spacers or wheels with less than stock backspacing (4.5" maximum backspacing) are required.

One of the best and most affordable upgrades I could do to my XJ

I upgraded to the 5/8 and was totally impressed by the quality of the bars. It was an easy upgrade and my only complaint is that in the first six months one of the Spherical Rod Ends lost a spherical shim and when I called Iron Rock they told me they could sell me another one but that they would not replace it. I thought it was premature wear and all the others were still in great shape. I paid the $32 and got another one and it has been fine since. This set up has taken me over some hard trails (Rubicon, Dusey-Ershim) and I don't ever go around an obstacle. It has been beaten and battered and other than the one rod end I have had no other failures. 95 Jeep Cherokee with 6.5" Full Traction long arm, 4.88 gears, 35" tires and a 4:1 reduction transfer case!! Beefy jeep with beefy steering!

BARELY fits XJ with 3" lift

Iron Rock says this kit works with 3"-8" of lift - and it does - but you probably want at least 4". My XJ has a 3" lift, and I had to shorten the drag link to the absolute shortest possible length by forcing the heim joints and adjuster as far into the threads as possible to get it onto my pitman arm, and the steering wheel is still canted about 30 degrees. I don't really mind it - just made for a more difficult install. The instructions say to leave about 1/2" of threads sticking out on the heim joint on the axle end of the drag link, but if you have a lower lift (3" or 3.5") you'll have to thread the heim in farther. Other than that, I'm a huge fan of this kit. My steering is buttery smooth now without even a hint of dead space.

Been running the OTK kit for a few years now. It is extremely durable! Be sure to clean up any mud from the joints after wheeling and I use a silicone spray on them. Need to replace the heims about every other year. If you wheel hard on rocks, you will appreciate this setup.

Super sturdy and easy to install, powder coat was perfect and hardware was flawless! Only problem was my steering stabilizer at full steer driver hits my track bar but just a little, besides that everything is mint and super responsive, 10/10 recommend

So this kit is extremely beefy and I cant picture ever breaking it. The hardware I got has some flat spots on the threads which I had to use a die to get off. The knuckle side of the drag link either had the wrong threads or something because none of the spherical ends would thread in. I wound up having to tap the threads to get the rod end in. There were some nicks on the bar I'm guessing from shipping and handling but they will need painted so they don't rust. Overall its good just the small stuff with the threads added an hour to my install time.
